The Bay ST [AU]
A 28-pound boat the size of a large suitase, the Bay ST is less than half the weight of a traditional kayak. It’s compact enough to store in your trunk, closet, boat, or garage. You can even check it on a plane or hike into remote waters with the Oru Pack.
On the water, the 12 foot Bay ST is fast, sporty, and versatile. It can handle many different conditions and landscapes, from smooth lakes to ocean kayaking. It's a closed cockpit, performance kayak that’s been tested on Class III rivers and played in 6 foot waves. Best for intermediate and advanced paddlers (but beginners with a few paddles under their belt will also love this model).
Our boats are lightweight but extraordinarily strong. They're created from 5 mm double-layered, custom-extruded polypropylene with a 10-year UV treatment. Translation? Oru Kayaks are incredibly puncture + abrasion resistant and built to last. With a super tough hull, they can withstand sliding over rocks, bumping into obstacles, and they are rated to 20,000 fold cycles.

The Bay ST is the original Oru Kayak, launched on Kickstarter in 2012 and now available in retailers around the world; it’s even in the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Over the years we've thoroughly updated the design to enhance performance, making it easier to assemble and more comfortable to use than its predecessors. It's stable enough for beginners, while the length and contouring make it fast and sporty for experts. There's plenty of room to stash gear for day trips and short camping excursions. Best of all, transforming it from box to boat takes just a few minutes.
Assembly
In this video, we’ll walk you through the assembly of the Bay ST. With a bit of practice it will take under 10 minutes to assemble your kayak, but the first few times will probably take a good bit longer.
Be patient – you’ll learn the steps and it will get easier to assemble as the folded parts break in and become more flexible.
