Kayaked the Thanwlin river with my new Coast XT from Hpa-An to Mawlamyine in Myanmar. Roughly 60 km distance.
Living 5 years in Myanmar, I always wondered how to get a kayak into the country without going through the logistical hassle and having to deal with too many permission restrictions. The Oru Kayak is an ideal solution for that. Now truly happy I made this decision, yet I still need to be cautious concerning government approval of going on river.
Thank You ORU! ORU kayaks have added many fun adventures to my life! As a solo traveler and a grandma I experienced the 2017 USA total eclipse in my Bay! I've paddled many adventures in my Beach as well! I love both my ORU kayaks! I am looking forward to many, many more fun adventures!!
My girlfriend bought us two Oru’s back in the winter of 2015. We’ve been thrilled with our kayaks, and have explored a lot of beautiful flat waterways in the greater Bay Area since then. The ease of chucking them in the back of my hatchback and hitting the road removes for me the nagging barrier of "roof-top-storage anxiety". Plus, if we decide to stop in towns along the way, our kayaks are always secure.
One of my favorite trips so far has been Blacks Point to the Petaluma Turnaround. I was born and raised in Petaluma, but before getting my Oru I’ve never commuted home via the San Pablo Bay to downtown Petaluma river route. It was an incredible new perspective on scenery I’d seen perhaps tens of thousands of times before.
I look forward to the next adventure!
This boat fulfills a 7 year old promise to my beloved 14 year old son. He’s an origami guru – it’s just perfect. Karma.
Well, I have to say… “these yaks rock! My wife and I have been wanting these for a looooong time., so we did it! We purchased two of them, accessories, yadda yadda yadda. Gotta tell ya’.. probably the most worthwhile purchase I have EVER made. Oh sure, I have a house, nice car and both of my kids have braces, but…I just can’t think of a more worthwhile purchase! We love them, love them, love them! How much do we love them? Leaving next month for our 25th Wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii. Other than my wife, takin’ my yak! Well, both of them actually! What is the point of this story? Simple. your product is amazing. By far the best “toy” I have ever had in my life. Well done everybody, well done!
Of course you can include it on your testimonial page. We need to tell everyone. It’s part of my plan to revolutionize the yak industry!! Oh wait… you’ve already done that. Sigh…. You know what has to be the greatest part of owing an Oru? Going to the lake and using the word “yak” in a most pretentious fashion! It’s awesome. Hahahaha! No wait… you guys are awesome.
I wanted to let you know that these kayaks - I have 2 Beach models - are the best things I've ever bought myself. I've had them for just over a year now, use them year-round in a nearby lake in North Carolina, and even when I'm paddling solo always bring both. I've met so many like-minded people, often a small crowd forms as I'm building the kayak and I always welcome any and all to give it a try. The local REI is just a few miles from here, and I've sent many people their way. Mostly, this is a 40+ year old crowd, and many are like me - women 50+ who are not able to load/unload a solid body kayak independently - Oru has opened/re-opened the world of paddling to us. REI donated a hydro-launch at the lake I prefer to paddle, so the lake is accessible to those in wheelchairs. I have a young friend who was recently in an accident that fractured his C-5, and will be taking him out the next time he's in town. As an additional benefit to those of us fortunate enough to be able to walk down to the water, we can use the hydro-launch so that even on the chilliest of days, we can get our boats into the water without getting wet! We kayaked on Christmas last year. Thank you for this amazing product! I can honestly say it has changed my life.
PS - I let a woman cyclist who was resting at the boat launch try my Oru. She called me "the girl who gets folks kayaking". Her birthday was the next day - she left me to go buy herself an Oru;-) I don't know her but good chance I'll see her paddling soon!
